  7. NAME OF PROGRAM: Passport™.

  9. TYPE OF FILE: cdev/INIT combination.

  11. WHAT IT DOES: Passport allows you to place a password on your startup disk to
  12. protect access to your Mac.
  13.  
  14. IN THIS DEMO VERSION THE PASSWORD CANNOT BE CHANGED.
  15. THE PASSWORD IS THE RETURN KEY.
  16.  
  17. FEATURES:
  18. • Passport prompts for a password at startup time
  19. If correct the protected disk is unlocked and the Mac finishes its powerup.
  20. If not the disk remains locked and the Mac shuts down.
  21.  
  22. • Passport lets you know the number of unauthorized attempts, if any, every
  23. time you start your Mac.
  24.  
  25. • Use the Control Panel Passport interface to:
  26.  
  27.     • Enable/disable Passport.
  28.     • Direct Passport to eject any floppy that enters the Macintosh.  Great
  29.     if you want to prevent others for putting pottentially virus infected
  30.     floppies in your Mac while you are away.
  31.     • Lock/unlock the startup disk.  If you want to leave your disk in
  32.     a "read only" state (while you are in a meeting, etc).
  33.     • Make Passport invisible so it will not be deleted or moved out of the
  34.     System Folder accidentally.
  35.     • Change your password.

  37.     None of the options are available until the correct password is entered.
  38.  
  39. • Passport now recognizes the fact that an INIT manager has changed its
  40. file type and it will NOT lock the startup disk at Shutdown.

  43. INSTALLATION: Copy Passport into the System Folder of the disk you wish to
  44. protect and restart your Mac.
  45.  
  46. To remove Passport, just take Passport out of your System Folder, or if you
  47. want, use the "Passport Active" button in the Control Panel Passport window.

  50. HARDWARE REQUIREMENTS: Mac plus and up.
  51.  
  52. SOFTWARE REQUIREMENTS: Macintosh System software 6.0 or later.
